Most scholarship search sites are lead-generation platforms — they collect your information and sell it to advertisers, and many of the "scholarships" listed are sweepstakes or require purchasing something. CollegeFundTracker only shows DIRECT scholarships where you apply straight on the organization's official website. No spam, no lead generation, no wasted time.

Our database currently includes 178 verified direct scholarships including local Oakland and Bay Area programs, national corporate scholarships (Coca-Cola, Google, Dell, Chime), HBCU and diversity programs (UNCF, NAACP, Gates Scholarship), California state grants, and disability/health scholarships. We update and expand the database regularly.

There are two ways: (1) Go to the Find Scholarships page, browse the database, and click "+ Add" on any scholarship card. It goes straight to your To Apply list. (2) Click the gold "Quick Add" button on any page to manually enter a scholarship you found yourself.

Research shows that students who consistently apply for 2-5 scholarships per week dramatically increase their chances of winning. The weekly tracker on your dashboard shows how many you've applied for each day this week and tracks your progress toward the goal. Students who hit 3+ per week on average typically win 2-4 scholarships per school year.

The scholarship moves from your "To Apply" list to your Tracking pipeline. You can log the date submitted, your portal login credentials (stored securely), how long it took, and a difficulty rating. The scholarship then appears in your Submitted tab where you can update the result when you hear back.

The Vault stores all your scholarship documents in one place — unofficial and official transcripts, recommendation letters from each author type, and essays for each topic. When you use the AI Essay Writer or AI Recommendation Writer, the generated PDF automatically saves to the correct vault box. You'll always have every document ready to attach to any application.

Select your essay topic (Personal Story, Career Goals, Financial Need, etc.) and the AI shows you specific writing prompts for that topic. You fill in your personal answers — your background, goals, challenges, achievements. The AI then writes a complete 400-500 word essay using your actual story, in your voice. It doesn't sound like a template because it's built around YOUR specific answers.

First select the type of person writing the letter (Teacher, Counselor, Employer, Community Leader, or Research Mentor) and then the specific role within that type. The AI writes in that person's authentic voice and focuses on what that type of recommender typically emphasizes. You provide the student's name, scholarship, and 2-3 key highlights — the AI handles the rest.

Yes — after the AI writes your essay or letter, a red "Save as PDF + Add to Vault" button appears. Click it and the PDF downloads to your computer AND automatically saves to the correct box in your Document Vault. You can download it again anytime from the Vault page.

Yes, absolutely. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Account page. Your access continues until the end of the billing period and you won't be charged again. No cancellation fees.

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, one of the most trusted payment processors in the world used by companies like Amazon, Google, and Shopify. CollegeFundTracker never sees or stores your credit card number. Stripe is PCI-compliant and uses bank-level encryption.

Once you set up notifications (click the bell icon in the top bar), we'll send you alerts 30 days, 14 days, 7 days, and 1 day before each scholarship deadline. You choose whether to receive alerts via email, SMS text, or both. Each alert includes the scholarship name, deadline date, and a direct link to open the app.

Click the bell icon in the top navigation bar. Select SMS or Both. Enter your phone number and click Send Code. You'll receive a 6-digit verification code by text. Enter it to confirm your number. Then choose which alert timing you want (30, 14, 7, and/or 1 day before). Your phone is now set up to receive deadline reminders.
